Uwharrie furniture is hand crafted from thick, kiln-dried pressure treated southern yellow pine, an American renewable resource. Yellow pine is insect and rot resistant and may be stained or painted (or left natural). The Uwharrie Chair Company uses heavy, one inch thick premium grade lumber kiln dried after it has been treated. All furniture is created using stainless steel hardware as additional protection against rust and corrosion. Paints used to coat Uwharrie Chair products are latex enamel.
Each piece of furniture is made to order in the USA, with your choice of finish. A distressed finish treatment provides an antique, weathered appearance. A natural finish can be stained, painted, or left to turn dark over time. As Uwharrie products age naturally, their rustic character will be enhanced.
